Our hybrid meeting on Wednesday 20 April 2022 had one of our own members as the Speaker. Dick’s topic was the Rotary International Council on Legislation which had met in Chicago between 10-14 April this year.
Rule changes can seem a dull prospect for a meeting, especially as the decisions had been made the previous week, but Dick was able to set a context for what had been decided and how those decisions would help.
Club members were particularly interested in how the changes affect our Club and our neighbouring Clubs, and what those changes would hold by way of prospect for membership in our Club and in others. With the skilful use of colour and graphics, what could have been dull and tedious was lightened, and led to many questions and points of view.
There was also a chance to recognise the work of one of our members in organising aid shipments from London to the borders of Ukraine. Helen was presented with the Fellowship Cup in recognition of her hard work.
