Business Hardly as Usual

Our meeting on 01 February was a business meeting (as we are not meeting at our normal venue next week). The meeting started as usual with introduction of our two guests, Rtn Ray Smith from RC Hounslow, and David Payne. We then had a long list of the activities that members had visited in the last week, including a quiz night and a series of Youth Competitions.

There was news about our Mary’s Meals donation going through Keith Bartlett, and our Open Meeting on 01 March 2017.  There were updates on the District Assembly Dinner (27 Mar), the Foundation Centennial Dinner (25 Apr) and the Pinner Race Night (29 Apr).

A budget was agreed for the visit in May from RC Sacile Centenario, although there was argument over which of the many funds it should come from!  There were suggestions for more fundraising activities based on a Quiz Night – we must be the only Club not to have done one this year – and an Antiques Fair.

Our Dictionaries for Life books have been ordered, and there were lots of reports on the Youth Competitions. The next collection of aid for Ukraine will happen at Helen’s home on Tuesday 07 Feb 2017, and our member Pankaj hopes to walk on the Great Wall of China (not all of it) for NSPCC.  Mollie and Ritu were our raffle winners, and next week we meet at the Miller and Carter, Brockhurst Corner, Uxbridge Rd, Stanmore, Harrow HA3 6DL
