Agreed on Rotary

It does not happen very often in our experience, but it is very gratifying to see that the leaders of the three main political parties (at the time of writing) are agreed on what Rotary has achieved so far, and agreed that Rotary should continue its outstanding work on the eradication of Polio.

Pictured above from left to right are Rt Hon David Cameron MP, the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP, Deputy Prime Minister, and Rt Hon Ed Milliband MP, Leader of the Opposition all agreed that support for the campaign to end polio was worth a photograph, but asking them to stand together was an ‘ask too much’.

What really matters though is the progress that is being made in the three endemic countries in the world (and not four as reported in one newspaper) – Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. The total cases in the whole world as at 1 May 2013 was just 24. There were no cases reported in other countries than these three.

You can support our work, just like the party leaders, by visiting www.endpolio.org to make a donation (look for FUND THE FIGHT), or by texting “EPNC44£2” to 70070 to donate £2 (UK only please).
