Focus on the Crocus in Harrow Times (Oct 21)

Some 60 children from a local school gathered on the Harrow Recreation Ground to learn how to plant Crocus Bulbs donated by the Rotary Club of Northwick Park. The crocuses/croci will flower in February 2011 to mark Rotary International’s birthday, and also to mark their progress in the eradication of Polio around the world. The school’s acting head teacher said their school was delighted to have been invited to take part in the planting as pupils from the school regularly use the park. President of the Rotary Club Stuart Braier said, “We are delighted with the progress we are making in the world with the eradication of Polio. This project will ensure that the benefit that Rotary is bringing to the world can be passed on to the next generation.” Current progress on the project can be found at http://www.polioeradication.org/Dataandmonitoring.aspx
