St Luke’s Hospice

 

Nikita Rabel, St Luke’s Community Fund raiser, spoke with commitment and passion about her role and responsibilities.Nikita  related how her job  with St Luke’s began, and how her work and life expectations changed as a result.

Seeing how this amazing hospice helps the people of Brent and Harrow to have the best possible quality of life,despite living with serious illnesses, no longer curable. has changed her life  and career trajectory.

St Luke’s was founded by the local communities, and rely on community support for 60% of the funds needed for the care they provide. All services are provided completely free of charge, and each year thousands of local people support the work of the hospice by making donations, taking part in events, playing the hospice lottery, or shopping or volunteering in eighteen charity shops. .

Nikita’s Role is to interact with the community:- organizations, schools temples, churches , businesses.Nikita has been with St Luke’s for two and a half years, and said working for the hospice is a privilege   and enjoys  organising  many fundraising events  including the Midnight Walk and Santa run.

Summing up she  said “St Luke’s are the Community for the Community “ and bringing awareness to the community of what Hospice is, and what they do, is key to her  fundraising role.

St Luke’s need to Raise between 6 million to 11 million a year to cover the services and care they provide. 28% is from NHS the rest is from funds raised from donations: from corporates, individual giving, trusts and wills and St Lukes Hospice  shops.  30 % of funds raised are from Nikita’s fund raising. Nikita thanked Rotarians for their continued and ongoing support.
