June Nathan – A Little History of Harrow

June Nathan gave an engaging talk on the development of Harrow, focusing on its railway heritage, industrial past, and recent regeneration.

She covered the origins of Harrow & Wealdstone and Harrow railway stations, the arrival of George Eastman and the creation of the Kodak factory — once the largest in the UK, employing around 6,000 people at its peak. After film production ended in 2005, the site closed in 2016 and is now being transformed into http://Eastman Village  a new development of 2,000 homes.

June also reflected on the tragic 1952 Harrow & Wealdstone rail crash, Britain’s worst peacetime rail disaster, which claimed 112 lives and left 340 injured.
