We support the Rotary
Jaipur Limb Trust.
The Jaipur Limb Trust is named after the City of Jaipur where
the limb was first invented and developed.
The limb is a combination of wooden block, microcelluar foam
and rubberised fabric. The assembly provides springiness and
flexibility, and is encased in a vulcanised rubber foot. The foot is
connected to a leg manufactured from high density polyethelene
pipe. The leg and the foot are assembled with stainless steel
screws that screw into the wooden block.
The resultant limb is well-suited to life in the developing
world, and can be manufactured and fitted for a cost of about
GBP £ 25 per limb.
The Rotary Club played its full part in the London
District's goal of supplying and fitting 2,000 limbs in the year
2000-2001.
