International Service

International Service is one of the Four Avenues of Service followed by Rotary Clubs. It provides Rotarians with an opportunity to work with Charities and overseas Rotary Clubs on providing assistance to those in need. The aim in providing help to people overseas is to build international goodwill and ensure that there is a future for peaceful co-existence.

The Rotary Club of Northwick Park in actively engaged in the following projects:

• Book Aid International - re-using books in anglophone developing countries
• Intercare - Ethical and non-Ethical medicines, and medical equipment re-use
• Vision Aid Overseas - re-using unwanted and spare spectacles
• Rotary Jaipur Limb Trust - prosthetic limbs for amputees around the world
• Voluntary Service Overseas - Stamps and Foreign coins collected by members
• Gurkha Welfare Trust - the Club supports a Gurkha soldier not getting a pension
• WaterAid - the Club raises funds to assist with the provision of safe water
• Send a Cow - the Club raises funds to assist with the provision of crossbred cows
• ShelterBox - the Club raises funds to provide shelter following a disaster.
• ComputerAid - the Club collects unwanted computers
• Creche Project - for working mothers in a South African township
• Mosquito Nets - for villages in Tanzania.

In recent years, the Club has sent 300 shoeboxes filled with gifts for children in the Balkans, has funded a sightsaving camp through SightSavers International, has paid for a well to be sunk for a village in Tanzania provided aid to victims of the Turkish Earthquake Disaster, the South East Asian Tsunami, the Pakistani Earthquake and taken part in a number of other projects.
