Kids Out Like It Used to Be

On Wednesday 13 June 2012 we had out Kids Out Day where we take children with a variety of disabilities to a local park. In the past, we have taken children to Thorpe Park in Surrey but this year we took children to Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. Some 28 children were present with 19 carers, as well as the Rotarians pictured above taking a break with some ice lollies. All those who went were agreed that this new format was a definite step forward, and will be recommending that the same venue is chosen next year. Rotarian Doug (with the red cap) and Rotarian Di (with yellow shirt) organised the event very successfully, and the club expressed its thanks at the meeting that evening.

Outside our meeting room, we display a pull-up banner indicating that a Rotary Club is meeting in the room. Shelly Lundberg, was staying in the hotel next to our venue and saw the pull-up banner. She stuck her head through the door to say, “Hello” and received a warm welcome.Shelly is Club Treasurer of the Sumter Rotary Club in District 7770 in South Carolina, and took our greetings back to her Club President, Jeanie Crotts.
